Fabulous cocktail dresses are essential for a celebrity or a socialite because they have several different functions daily and they have to be ready at a drop of a hat. They should always be chic but yet interesting. A subtle sparkle, feather or lace can go a long way.

Designers such as Oscar de la Renta, Valentino, Prabal Gurung and Jason Wu are the king of cocktail dresses. Only sophisticated women can carry off their elegant designs.

I adore cocktail dresses because one can put their own personal style and make it work for them. Divas in your twenties keep it young and flirty. A bubbled or a ruffled piece is ideal.

Divas in your thirties keep it sweet with embellishments and feathers.

Over fourty divas keep it classy with lace and sequin silhouettes.

The key is to always be a lady at all times!

They may be four of the more popular designers, but there are other designers whose clothing looks just as good. Is it more about who gets the media hype or is it all about the clothes? At the end of the day it all comes down to commerce for all of designers to include those who are excluded.
